Spring has finally arrived!

I have been so excited to start adding some more yellow to our home for the spring time! We have also thrown in some greenery to spice up the downstairs! At last, here it is!

And my favorite piece of decor! (and the wall color: Edgecomb Gray matched to Behr)

I L.O.V.E. our new rug!

We also added some spring decor to our entry table.

Our current work in progress area is the area around the buffet.... I have a few ideas but nothing is set in stone yet...

Most sources can be found on our first post of our Christmas Family room and our Christmas Kitchen!

Wall color: Benjamin Moore Edgecomb Gray matched to Behr (Home Depot)
Slipcover on chair: Walmart.com (Sure fit - I hate it though, would not recommend it!)
Rug: Home Depot ($167 for an 8 x 10, and it is SO soft!)
Greenery: TJ Max, Hobby Lobby, and IKEA
Yellow kettle: Antique on Ebay
Yellow placemats: Crate and Barrel
Giant Poster print: Dear Lillie Blog
Giant Poster frame: Home made by me with ASCP in French Linen (tutorial)
Clock: Z Gallerie
Yellow Pillows: TJ Maxx and World Market

Happy Spring!

Curtain call.

Curtains are such an amazing statement piece in a house. They can make it, or break it. Depending on what look you are going for, there are so many different varieties, as well as different curtain rods! We chose to go with the same rods throughout our entire house, and they are made by Martha Stewart from Home Depot. I love them and think they really match the overall feel of our house. For now, we are just using white curtains, but I am sure as our rooms evolve, the curtains will change as well!

And then there is the "rule of thumb" for curtain hanging. I did not follow it in our downstairs because we have nine foot ceilings, and I was not about to spend a couple hundred or more on curtains that will change in a few years... but here it is:

And here are the different styles showing how the bottom length can vary. On hardwoods, I like to keep the curtains about 1/2 inch above the floor for easy mopping and cleaning!

And then, if you cannot find curtains in the perfect color, you can easily make your own! Recently, Young House Love did this for their new little bundle of joy! They look amazing!

And then there are some other amazing curtains that I found on Pinterest!

And my current dilemma is trying to figure out what to do with the random spot in our kitchen....

That window is HUGE. And I don't want to put the same blinds I have in the rest of our house because they won't match well enough with our cabinets. You can also see in our kitchen when walking up the hill to the left of our house, so I need something there! So... I am thinking of a new fun project that I will share with you when it is finished!

Make sure you check out my Facebook page for a contest right now! You have good odds of winning, and 'like' the page while your there!

Bright colored big boy room.

This room has been a work in progress for almost two months now! I am glad to finally be able to call it done (for now!).... and until he grows bigger and changes his love of things blue! I started with the idea of doing a Kick Buttowski room, but he quickly changed his mind about that and I went for a more bold, geometric room. I think it is perfect for a little boy, and he loves it too.

A few weeks ago I shared the plan for his room and now I am excited to show you where we have come from since start to finish.

And here was the plan for his room....

And here is his room now...

Sorry for the bad shadow from my camera strap and flash!

Aiden loves it so that is all I am happy with. And I am kind of obsessed with the stripes too! His dresser is from Babies R Us. Polka dot sheets, Q pillow, and duvet are from Land of Nod (now 15% off through March 17th!). Paint (Valspar Pool Party, Ultra White, and Wet Cement), blinds, curtain rod, peg board are from Lowes. Euro sham, Euro cover, yellow pill vase, small clock, both small small plant, three picture frame, colorful toy, curtains with 8.5" added fabric and room darkening fabric (from JoAnns), and Expidit wall unit and baskets are from IKEA. Letter A, large mason jar, big clothes pin, lanterns, white wall frame, and turtle are from Hobby Lobby. Both lights, silver wall frames, yellow frame, crayon box, blue suit case, blue decorative box, bed skirt, and night stand are from Target. The 'smile' pillow, city wall canvases are from TJ Maxx. The camera and owl piggy bank are from Z Gallerie. The headboard was free on a neighborhood website, and the old-fashion piggy bank, bowling pins, "boys" picture frame, and hand-painted orange car were all gifts. The "my first million" piggy bank is from the Yooper Trap in the UP, MI.  The artwork on the back wall is from Etsy and Pinterest, as well as my little mans creations! I also hand made the paper garland with scissors, hot glue gun, and twine!

I hope you all love it as much as Aiden does!
