Leila's Bedroom: pink & unicorns

About a year ago we got bunk beds for Aiden's room and Luke slowly trickled into sleeping in there every night. Now they never want to sleep alone because of how "afraid" they are. We have a monitor in their room to see them and hear what they talk about and their little conversations are so cute. They mostly consist of sports, things they like, and fart jokes. Oh, boys!

Well, the front of our house gets SO hot. Even with air conditioning the sun bakes it. So we decided to move Leila into Luke's old bedroom and switch things up.

It has been so nice not having our neighbors car wake her up, less heat, and a very bright big girl room!

Pink Hearth

When browsing through Pinterest I got a wild idea to switch up some of our decor. I ordered new PB Comfort slip covers in a light gray that should be here in a few weeks and wanted to design style to follow. I took my beautiful clock down and added some more contemporary art. I am loving how this looks and I love how bright and happy the pink is. Happy Sunday!

What dreams are made of: white kitchens!

Well, hello! It has been a hot minute! I just thought I would stop by and share our newest home project! And when I say "our" I basically mean me because my husband helped in the slimmest way possible because I am a control freak! I am loving how big and bright our new kitchen looks. Well, it is technically the same kitchen, but the espresso cabinets had to go! There is nothing quite like a bright and airy feel in the kitchen!

And remember what it looked like before?

And now...

Fall Family Room

It feels like it has been 100 years since I have blogged anything house related. Since I started working full time over a year ago, I still decorate (duh) but actually getting the time to blog about it is a whole different issue! We had quite a debacle getting our basement finished as the contractor we hired, which we knew through family, ended up because a total quack and half-assing most of the project and we ended up having to fix a lot of things. Needless to say, it is almost done, with the exception of the railing because that costs a lot of money, money in which he took from us and did not finish the job. Freaking pig! If you cannot tell, I am still bitter about it! :)

Anyway, our fall family room as of late:

Our next big project!

We are so excited to finally be finishing our basement! When we first built our home we knew it was something we had wanted to do but rook the advice of many professionals to wait until the ground surrounding our foundation settled. We are so thankful we did because we had to deal with flooding issues with Richmond for the first three years until they finally put a retaining wall and French drain in our back window well. Plus, we get to design everything how we want without being put into the 'Richmond" box! They are starting tomorrow and I cannot wait to share the progress!

Here are the inspiration photos that we gave to our contractor:

And lastly, we bought this bad boy from the Restoration Hardware Outlet this past week, and I am SO excited about it!

We are so excited to be expanding our house!

2017: Home Resolutions

We did not do too many home improvements last year because I was busy finishing my Masters degree and Berto was traveling a lot for work! This year we decided to set some goals of home improvements we want for our home.

1. Penny tile our laundry room. The room is decorated, for the most part. The flooring is gross though. Richmond homes did not have the tile we wanted when we were building so we chose builder grade linoleum. This has got to go!!

2. Add a counter to our laundry room. This would be super convenient to have. Right now our washing machine is so wiggly that it wiggles everything on top of it. It would be nice to have something that finishes the room and a place I can fold the laundry.

3. Add a Barn Door to separate the master bathroom and master bedroom. Right now there is no door and it can be frustrating when I have to get up for work and Berto is off that day, or vise versa! We love these doors.

4. Possibly add a new front door, depending on the cost! We love our door, because it is MASSIVE. But, we also would like something that lets more natural light inside. Like these...

5. Decorate our new patio and nourish our new trees. This past year we planted 11 trees on our lot. Most are aspens and one is a pine. We also planted two hydrangeas and are hoping they take off with big blooms! Here is our patio and some ideas for it!

Hopefully we can accomplish these this year! I will try to post pictures as we change things! :) Happy New Year!
